I know not everyone enjoys the colder weather that comes with winter (depending on where you live, of course). I, myself, enjoy getting cozy in a sweatshirt, with a warm cup of tea and a good book as snow falls outside.

If you’re hanging out inside a bit more this winter, why not break out the art and craft supplies? Let the kids get creative with some of the winter art projects for kids below.

Keep in mind that you can adjust each of the crafts I share here. Maybe you want to simplify the materials. Or perhaps you want to just set out the supplies and let the kids craft as they see fit. Either way, you know your students’ needs best. So make adjustments based on that knowledge.

If you live somewhere without snow, be sure to introduce the concept to the kids ahead of time. Non-fiction books, videos, and images of real snow are a great place to start.

I really enjoyed watching my students get creative with their popsicle stick snowflakes! I think next time, I’ll set it up as a winter art invitation where it’s even more self-directed.

Kids will practice all sorts of motor skills as they trace snowflakes with glue, sprinkle salt, and paint in the salt painting process art project.

Our name snowman craft is a great activity for preschoolers. Once your class has finished the final touches on their snowmen, they can compare and contrast the height of each snowman based on the letters in their names!

The children will have a blast creating and adding accessories to their very own cotton ball snowman.

In the melting snowman craft, students will use critical thinking skills as they decide where a snowman’s accessories will end up after all of the snow melts.

Whether you choose to turn this into a cooperative art project or make individual boxes for each student, the kids are sure to enjoy creating the snow globe in a box craft!
